Presentation Brothers College have retained their Munster Schools Junior Cup title after an impressive display against arch-rivals Christian Brothers College at Virgin Media Park.

This was the Mardyke side’s third successive title and also made it a double, double after their Seniors' great win last week, as they currently dominate the Munster schools scene.

A strong wind that was blowing into the Sunday’s Well end of the ground gave Pres the advantage.

The holders hit the front inside three minutes, when David Nolan gathered a loose ball outside the CBC 22 and raced away to touch down under the posts and Daniel Murphy converted for a 7-0 lead.

A great break up the line by Christians winger Eamon O’Sullivan, saw his chip ahead being gathered by Pres centre Harry Galvin Carthy, as the defending champions cleared their lines.

Conor McLoughlin was causing problems at the Christians line out, turning over several throw-ins.

Despite Christians dominating the half possession-wise it was Pres who extended their advantage on 19 minutes when Eddie Dooley raced up the wing to touch down in the corner, but Murphy failed with the touchline conversion.

A break by Christians skipper James Martin brought play into the Pres’ 22, where they were awarded a penalty, but O’Sullivan’s effort just sailed wide of the posts to leave Pres with a 12-0 half-time lead.

Three minutes into the second half, Pres put a big dent in Christians' hopes of a comeback, when Murphy raced through Christians' defence to touchdown and also converted to make it 19-0.

This Christians side that showed great battling qualities throughout this campaign, never threw in the towel and spent the remainder of the game camped in the Pres’ 22.

Tries by Sam Healy and Harry McCarthy, both of which were converted by Donal O’Connor, were not enough to prevent a Pres’ victory.
