CORK are looking for a new minor camogie manager after Jerry Wallace stepped away from the role this week.
The Midleton native was at the helm from 2018 to this season, winning four All-Irelands from five campaigns, with the 2020 championship called off because of Covid. The minor grade moved from U16 to U18 in 2006 and Cork went 12 years without winning the top prize until Wallace's appointment.
He had been a leading contender to take over from Matthew Twomey as senior bainisteoir before Ger Manley was recently appointed to that position but will be very hard to replace in the minor role.
Wallace first rose to prominence as a member of the Cork backroom when they landed Liam MacCarthy in 2004 and '05 and was also involved with Limerick and Antrim.
He explained his decision in correspondence to the Cork Camogie Board: "I would like to thank you all for the opportunity to have been involved with Cork camogie since 2018, 6 great years. I personally have enjoyed my time with the Cork minors.
"So another career opportunity has become available to me over the past few days and this is something that I wish to pursue. This means that I unfortunately will not be available to undertake the position of Cork Minor Camogie Manager going forward and that my management team finishes as well.
"I would like to express my best wishes to whoever takes over the role and to all the players, parents and families from past campaigns.

"Thank you to the Cork County Camogie Executive and Board, Fellow Management Members, Caretaker Joe Quinn at Castle Road, Media Partners, Camogie Clubs of Cork and Supporters for your support and encouragement throughout my 6 year journey in Managing the promotion of Minor Intercounty Camogie for Cork Camogie.
"Yours in Sport.
"Jerry Wallace (Former Cork Minor Camogie Manager (2018/19/20/21/22/23)"
