DOUGLAS HALL proved far too strong to beat Leeds in their Daly Industrial Supplies U17 Premier League clash at Moneygourney.

Evan Cummins put in a man-of-the-match performance for the Hall with two goals and three assists.

However, it was his overall display that caught the eye, as he was able to spray the ball around the pitch with ease.

Douglas were two goals up at halftime courtesy of goals by Rob O’Leary and Cummins, however, things could have been worse for Leeds only for their goalkeeper Andrew Demtriche, who had to make some outstanding saves in the half.

The Hall kept the pressure on Leeds in the second half and their superiority told when they added six more goals through, O’Leary (3), Lewis Lenihan (2) and a wonderful free-kick from Cummins to run easy winners at the end.

Douglas showed their intent right from the first whistle when Golding Nduwuba put in a dangerous cross, however, Steven Daly was in the right place for Leeds to clear the ball off the line.

They took the lead in the fifth minute, Quentin Danza's powerful effort was parried away by Demtriche in the Leeds goal only for O’Leary to pounce to power home the rebound.

O’Leary was causing Leeds all sorts of problems with his pace up front and when Cummins released him with a delightful pass five minutes after, he was denied by a superb save by Demtriche.

The Hall came close to increasing their lead on the half-hour mark, Callum Kearney showed his strength to control a Cummins pass, but his power effort crashed off the crossbar.

The Hall did go two goals up in the 40th minute. Shane O’Mahony released Cummins with a lovely ball over the top and he raced through to lob the ball over Demtriche in the Leeds goal.

Douglas started the second half on the front foot and when Cummins released O’Leary in the 55th minute, he made no mistake to give them a 3-0 lead. To be fair to the Leeds side they came into this game under-strength with a lot of injuries, however, they fell further behind four minutes later.

Douglas got a free kick 30 yards from the goal and Cummins bent the ball around the wall and into the roof of the net to lead 4-0. O’Leary grabbed his hat-trick in the 63rd minute to give the Hall a 5-0 lead, when he raced onto another through ball by Cummins to calmly steer home.

Douglas now were in full flow and substitute Lewis Lenihan got in on the act two minutes later when he powered home an effort from the edge of the box to lead 6-0.

Lenihan scored again in the 77th minute for Douglas to lead 7-0 when he got on the end of an O’Leary pass to score from close range.

Things got worse for Leeds in the 80th minute when they went 8-0 down, O’Leary controlled another Cummins slimline pass to power his effort home from outside the box.
