Cork jockeys enjoy a great day National Hunt racing at Cork Racecourse Mallow

Jockey Michael O'Sullivan with Seamus O'Hare & Martin Russell of the Threedownoneup Syndicate after Black Bamboo won the Connolly's RED MILLS Irish EBF Auction Maiden Hurdle.

THE return of National Hunt action to Cork racecourse on Sunday attracted a decent attendance on a beautifully crisp autumnal afternoon at the Mallow venue.

The meeting proved to be a particularly lucrative one for Cork jockeys and trainers.

The 121 rated Black Bamboo looked to have a golden opportunity and was well supported into 4/9 to land the Connolly's RED MILLS EBF Stallions Auction Maiden Hurdle.

He duly landed the odds for the in form Lombardstown jockey Michael O'Sullivan under an ultra confident ride for Upton trainer John Murphy.

He seems a better horse going right handed. He'd won his bumper in Limerick and was dropped in class today after some excellent runs in better company.

The opening Mallow 3Y0 Maiden Hurdle went to Enda Bolger's HANDS ON.

This was Enda's first ever juvenile hurdle winner.

He'd shown distinct promise in Listowel and that form was franked on Tuesday in Punchestown.

KALESOUN who went a short priced favourite, faded into 4th having made most of the running.

He clearly needed the run and the French recruit shouldn't be discounted long term.

Another Cork jockey on the scoresheet was Roscarbery native Brian Hayes aboard the mare Getabelle who landed the first division of the Finbarr Galvin Cuppra Handicap Hurdle.

She'd finished second here in August but went one better this afternoon justifying market support into 11/4 favouritism.

The second division also went to a Cork jockey as Kilbrin native Daniel King landed the spoils in a thrilling finish aboard 7/1 chance CHAPEL STREET.

Cloyne trainer James Motherway landed the rated Novice Chase by two lengths under Keith Donoghue, who is enjoying a terrific season. He jumped well in the main bar a bad mistake at the last. He carried the colours of Robcour and had been generally disappointing since an excellent fourth to My Mate Mozzie in a smart maiden hurdle at Punchestown.

DESERT HEATHER under a patient ride from Raymond Barron, landed the INH Stallion Owners EBF Novice Hurdle for Declan Queally.

He got up in the shadows of the post to deny Enda Bolger a double by a neck.

Darragh O'Keeffe was aboard the runner up Solitary Man, who lost no caste in defeat, given the significant weight concession.

He emerged with his reputation intact.

DESERT HEATHER was winning for the third consecutive occasion, following up two wins at Kilbeggan.

The featured Listed €45k Co-Op Stores Handicap Chase went to TYPICAL THOMAS for trainer James Fahey with Mark McDonagh aboard. He jumped really well and ran out a decisive winner under the talented young pilot to win at 13/2 for an in form trainer who had a winner in Punchestown on Wednesday.
