Urhan 0-10 Millstreet 1-5

URHAN will play St Finbarr’s in this year’s Bon Secours Cork Premier JFC semi-finals following a two-point victory in Kealkill.

Awful weather conditions turned this last-eight encounter into a battle from first minute to last.

James Linehan edged Milstreet ahead but both sides struggled with the elements for much of a scrappy first quarter. It took Urhan 10 minutes to conjure up an equaliser via a Conchubar Harrington free. Hugh Linehan (free) restored the Duhallow side’s lead to make it 0-2 to 0-1 after a quarter of an hour.

Ben Sullivan’s superb left-footed effort levelled matters for a second time before an even better Colm O’Leary long-range effort edged their opponents back in front. A tight game saw the sides change ends tied 0-3 apiece after Urhan’s Alan Elphick scored.

Conchubar Harrington’s converted free gave the Beara side their first lead shortly after the resumption but Millstreet’s reply was devastating.

Hugh Linehan reacted quickest to a shot that came off an upright and scored an opportunistic goal before adding a free to make it 1-4 to 0-4.

Vincent Lehane’s curling free made it a two-point game heading into the closing stages where both sides were guilty of turning over possession.

Conor Lowney’s mark made it a one-score game after 50 minutes. A rampant Urhan continued to press and Alan Elphick equalised, 1-4 to 0-7, with eight minutes left.

Unable to stem the tide, Milstreet conceded another free from which Vincent Lehane pushed the Beara men ahead.

Creditably, their opponents dug deep and Eanna O’Mahony levelled the score for a fifth time close to the end.

Once again, Urhan mustered a response with Phillip O’Shea scoring and an injury-time counter-attack ending with Alan Elphick finishing off the scoring for a delighted Urhan and their supporters.
