THE great Cork and Waterford hurlers of the noughties will face each other again on Sunday night in Youghal at 6pm, in a game in aid of the Youghal Cancer Support Centre.

The counties featured in some epic clashes in Semple Stadium and in Croke Park between 2003 and 2007, when they clashed in Munster and in All-Ireland quarter- and semi-finals.

Sunday night’s game, which will be refereed by Cathal McAllister, has a 6pm start, is being hosted by Youghal GAA club, at their splendid complex on Magner’s Hill, and is expected to draw a huge audience. Some of the greatest hurlers of the modern era will take to the field again.

The organisers are hoping to generate funds for the Cancer Support Centre in the town.

Both counties have named very strong teams, evoking memories of their great clashes when they were two of the country’s leading teams.

The game will be followed by a question-and-answer session in the clubhouse, with Kevin Hennessy, Donal O’Grady, and Tomás Mulcahy participating alongside players from both sides.
