Guilty plea to charges arising out of dangerous driving rampage in Cork

Judge Helen Boyle agreed to adjourn sentencing until November 23.

The motorist has pleaded guilty to endangerment and to similar charges arising out of the ramming of a Garda car.

The driving rampage occurred in the Douglas area.

A substantial risk of death or serious injury was caused to passengers at a bus stop when an out-of-control car collided with a kerb.

Emmanuel Anaba of Alden, Shamrock Lawn, Douglas, Cork, pleaded guilty at Cork Circuit Criminal Court to two counts of endangerment, two counts of dangerous driving, and other offences, including drug dealing.

Defence barrister Alison McCarthy said that the accused man had been suffering from addiction at the time but had undertaken a course at University College Cork since it occurred and was due to graduate on November 6.

She sought a probation report in advance of sentencing. Judge Helen Boyle agreed to adjourn sentencing until November 23.

Detective Garda Dermot Crowley charged Anaba with the various counts on the indictment.

The man admitted an endangerment charge related to June 13, 2025, at the junction of Grange Rd and Shamrock Park, Douglas, where it is alleged that he rammed a patrol car.

The second endangerment charge he admitted was where his car collided with a kerb, losing control, where people were waiting at an adjacent bus stop, again creating a substantial risk of death or serious injury.

In relation to seizures of drugs at Grange in Douglas, and later at an address at Inis Mór, Ballincollig, he is charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of sale or supply in respect of each location, all on the same date, June 13, 2025.
