Gougane Barra church concert as part of Culture Night events next month

More than 150 free events will take place across towns, villages and islands throughout Cork county as part of Culture Night on September 18.

This year's festival, co-ordinated by Cork County Council, features a jam-packed programme of events, with a special focus on musical talent.

Following a highly successful 2025 programme, which attracted more than 18,000 attendees, Culture Night 2026 will offer interactive family experiences alongside events that celebrate both Irish traditions and global influences.

Attendees at this year’s event can expect to immerse themselves in the richness of Cork’s artistic talent and cultural heritage, with something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

Pop-up performances, poetry readings, live music, workshops, and exhibitions from a range of musicians, artists, and troupers are scheduled to take place across several unique and unexpected venues, with highlights including a fire show at Mallow Castle, a contemporary traditional music concert with David Murphy at Gougane Barra Church, and The Night Market on Cobh Promenade, featuring arts and crafts stalls, food vendors, and live DJ sets.

Other highlights include Ar n'Áit, who will take over Skibbereen with performances at The Rock outdoor amphitheatre, a concert from Niall McCabe, who will take to the stage in the historic setting of St Mary's Church in Youghal, and a performance from Leevy, the acclaimed five-piece band from the Múscraí Gaeltacht, who will perform in O'Mahony's Bar, in Watergrasshill.

Mayor of the County of Cork, councillor Bernard Moynihan said in the weeks and months leading up to the event, “Culture Night brings communities together to celebrate their local arts and heritage”.

“Last year we worked with 704 people from various communities in the county to deliver an impressive programme,” said Mr Moynihan.

“This year the team are delivering the most ambitious programme yet.

“From our towns and villages to our islands and rural communities, people can discover music, theatre, visual arts, storytelling and much more in a welcoming and accessible way.

“I encourage everyone to explore the programme, try something new and enjoy this fantastic celebration of culture in all its forms."

All events, which kick off at 4pm, are free to attend, although advance booking is required for some.
