Cork County Council is inviting applications for the provision of casual trading and provision of services licences within the authority’s Carrigaline Municipal District.

Last year, the council opened a public consultation process on draft casual trading by-laws covering Carrigaline and nearby areas including Passage West, Crosshaven, and Monkstown.

The authority said the aim of the regulations, which came into effect in May of this year, was to clarify and improve the management of casual trading, creating a more transparent and regulated environment for traders.

“The changes will help support vibrant, well-organised markets while ensuring fair trading practices,” said the council.

A casual trading licence is required by any person wishing to sell goods, and a casual provision of services licence is required where a service is being provided from a temporary location in a public place.

A council spokesperson said that applications for licences under both of the categories will be assessed in accordance with the relevant by-laws and the Local Government Act 2001.

Application forms are available on Cork County Council’s website corkcoco.ie, or from the Carrigaline Municipal District Office, Waterpark House, Old Church Rd, Carrigaline.

The spokesperson said: “Completed applications and all supporting documentation must be submitted by Friday, September 18, to be considered for licensing for the 2026/2027 trading period.”
