Captivating venues set to host Cork on a Fork Festival culinary feasts 

This year’s Cork on a Fork Fest, which will run from August 12-16, will feature unique dining venues including a cathedral, a chapel, a farm shed, an old brewery, a fort, a former bank, and long tables laid across city streets.

The historic Counting House— the former Beamish and Crawford site which has been acquired by Cork City Council for a new city library — will also open to the public for the first time in years for an all-weekend drinks theatre.

One of the most dramatic new settings will be St Fin Barre’s Cathedral, where Michelin-starred chefs Lewis Barker of Terre and Paul McDonald of Bastion will host ‘The Cathedral Supper’ on Thursday, August 13.

This will be the first time that the landmark cathedral, located close to the historic birthplace of Cork, has been used for a dining experience of this kind.

On Sunday, the Goldie Chapel at Nano Nagle Place will host another festival highlight: A one-night-only collaboration between Michelin-starred chef Rob Krawczyk of Chestnut; Bib Gourmand chef Aishling Moore of Goldie, and Eric Nolan of Good Day Deli.

Ecclesiastical heritage

The city’s ecclesiastical heritage will also take centre stage at St Peter’s, where L’Atitude 51 and chefs from Poliphonia Restaurant in Tbilisi will present ‘Supra’, combining Cork ingredients with Georgian culinary traditions, wines, and storytelling.

Other venues include Elizabeth Fort for live-fire cooking; Glenbrook Farm’s calf shed for a four-course dinner; and No 1 Lapp’s Quay, the former Cork Savings Bank — while some of the festival’s biggest moments will take place outdoors and in public spaces.

Almost 500 guests will sit at one long table on MacCurtain St for the ‘VQ Shared Table’, sponsored by Birra Moretti and created in collaboration with 20 restaurants.

For the first time, Pembroke St will host its own shared feast on Sunday, with dishes created by Helena’s at The Imperial, Orso Kitchen, Arthur Maynes, The Old Town Taqueria Café, and The Bookshelf, accompanied by live music and drinks.

Across the weekend, Bishop Lucey Park will host family events, South Main St will be pedestrianised for a market and open farm, and the Grand Parade will feature a live cooking demonstration marquee.
