Council seeks bids for roll-out of EV chargers in Cork

Bids are being sought for a €200,000 contract for the roll-out of electric vehicle (EV) chargers in Cork county.

Cork County Council is seeking a contractor to install EV chargers at its depots and area yards, with the contract covering the supply, installation, testing and maintenance of the chargers over three years.

While the tender does not specify how many charging points will be installed, or the council facilities involved, the contract has been valued at €200,000.

Expressions of interest are now being welcomed, with submissions from small to medium sized enterprises permitted.

The project aligns with the local authority’s plans to cut its direct carbon emissions by 51% by 2030. The deadline for submissions is 4pm on August 21.

A separate Cork County Council tender, in partnership with Kerry County Council, has also opened for submissions, and relates to a wider public charging strategy for the South-West.

That project will look at installing chargers in residential areas and at public amenity destinations, with proposed pilot locations including the Mizen Head Visitor Centre and the Youghal Greenway car park.
