A motorcycle driver in his 30s was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the driver of a jeep, aged in his 80s, was taken to Cork University Hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a collision near the Cork Limerick border last night which saw a man in his 30s lose his life.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the fatal road traffic collision on the N20 at Castlewrixon, Ballyhea, yesterday.

The collision involved a jeep and a motorcycle and occurred at approximately 8pm Saturday night.

An adult male driver of a motorcycle, aged in his 30s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His body has been conveyed to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The coroner has been notified, and a Garda Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been appointed to support the family of the deceased.

An adult male driver of a jeep (aged in his 80s) was conveyed to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life threatening at the time.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling on the N20 near Castlewrixon, Ballyhea, Co. Cork between 7:15pm and 8pm on Saturday are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
