There will be 10 jobs created by the €2m expansion of a family-owned car dealership in Cork, with a further 40 jobs created during the construction phase.

The plans for Grandon’s Toyota dealership in Glanmire were announced following the city council’s approval of the project yesterday, with a completion target date set for next December.

The investment comes as the business prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary, and it represents the largest single investment in the company’s history.

The redevelopment aims to modernise the dealership, with construction to be carried out by Fahy Construction.

Upon completion, the Sallybrook shop expects to create at least 10 full-time positions across several departments including sales, service, valeting, and parts, with successful candidates joining its network of 150 employees in the Glanmire area. The expansion includes an upgraded showroom, an expanded workshop with additional vehicle repair bays, an upgraded parts and service department, redesigned sales consultation hubs, and upgraded solar infrastructure.

Dealer principal Ken Grandon said this investment is about preparing the dealership for the next 50 years.

“Our goal is to provide customers with an experience that is second to none, whether they are purchasing a vehicle, visiting our service department, or seeking parts and support,” said Mr Grandon.

“The new development will allow us to bring a significantly enhanced customer service environment and a state-of-the-art workshop facility.”
