“I buy all my tickets here now,” one local told The Echo as Shandon St came out last week to celebrate one year since Clifford’s Centra sold the winning €250m EuroMillions ticket.

The record-breaking win represented Ireland’s 18th EuroMillions jackpot win since 2004, with many in the community still speculating about who the winning family syndicate could be.

Shandon local Sinéad Donnelly told The Echo there was “a huge buzz around the place at the time, but also everyone was questioning who it was”.

“I don’t normally do the Lotto, but I have bought a ticket here since,” said Ms Donnelly. “If I won, I would’ve bought a new car, lots of holidays, and a pony for my daughter.”

Rory Neville of Blackpool said he was “delighted to see someone in the area get it”.

“I buy all of my tickets here now, I do the Lotto about once a week. If I had won the €250m, I would’ve bought a big car and a big mansion.”

Owner of Clifford’s Centra Ted Clifford said it “still feels surreal that such a huge win came through our doors”.

“It gave everyone here a real lift, and customers still talk about it to this day.”
