Pictures: 45th Echo Women’s Mini Marathon a winner

Thousands of women — and some creatively dressed men — took to the streets of Cork on Sunday for the 45th Echo Women’s Mini Marathon, helping to raise vital funds for charities.
More than 4,100 participants signed up to run, walk, or wheel the 6km course from Centre Park Road to Kennedy Park in what is the largest event of its kind on the Munster calendar. Organisers estimate the annual event raises around €1.5m for charities each year.
The race was won by Kerry athlete Niamh O’Mahony of An Ríocht AC in 20 minutes and 29 seconds. “I’ve not done a road race like this before, it was a last-minute decision, but there was such a good atmosphere,” said Ms O’Mahony.
