Judge Catherine Ryan imposed consecutive prison sentences totalling three months. for the theft and other shoplifting offences. 

Victoria Secrets items worth €920 were stolen in Cork by a woman who has now been sentenced to a total of three months in prison.

Noreen Foley, aged 37, of Cork Simon Community appeared before Cork District Court where she pleaded guilty to the theft and other shoplifting offences, which were carried out in April.

The shoplifting at Victoria Secrets was carried out at Opera Lane in Cork on April 10.

Also on that date she stole just over €100 worth of clothing from Next on Opera Lane.

She also turned up at Tesco on Paul St, where she stole €75 worth of goods.

There were two other shoplifting offences also, namely at Spar on Douglas Street the following day, and at South Terrace Pharmacy on April 16.

Sergeant John Dineen said Noreen Foley had 132 previous convictions, including 80 counts of theft.

Eddie Burke, solicitor, said: “She left school at 12 and never worked. She had been living at an apartment in Youghal.

“She has various health issues. She has engaged with addiction counsellors in prison.”

Judge Catherine Ryan said: “This lady clearly has a problem… Hopefully, the time in custody is going to stabilise matters for her.”

Judge Ryan imposed consecutive sentences totalling three months.
