Case against Cork man accused of having €100k of drugs in his home adjourned until December

A €100,000 drugs case was adjourned until December 8 because of the solicitors’ strike.

The accused man appeared in Cork District Court in person but had no legal representation because of the dispute over free legal aid.

Scott Arundel (21), who is on bail on the charges, is accused of having €79,000 worth of heroin and €21,000 worth of cocaine at his home last year.

Detective Garda Kian O’Sullivan charged Scott Arundel with counts including having drugs where the street value exceeded €13,000 which carries a minimum sentence of 10 years unless the judge finds that there are exceptional circumstances.

The background allegations in this case are that on June 11, 2025, gardaí executed a warrant at the defendant’s home at Harbour View Road, Knocknaheeny, Cork.

Gardai allegedly located a shopping bag concealed under the stairs within the kitchen. containing a smaller plastic bag within which was located approximately 300 grams of suspected cocaine valued at €21,000.

A black Nike back pack was also seized within the hot press at the property and this allegedly contained 20 individually wrapped quantities of suspected diamorphine, with a total weight of 565 grams. The value of the suspected diamorphine is €79,000.

The total value of the suspected controlled drugs seized was €100,000.

It was alleged that an electronic weighing scales with brown and white residue on its surface and plastic bagging similar to that used to bag the diamorphine was located within the kitchen drawers at the address.

Judge David Waters put the case against Scott Arundel back to December 8 at Cork District Court.
