Bob Geldof and the Boomtown Rats will play at this year's Jazz.

Bob Geldof and The Boomtown Rats have been announced for this year’s Cork Jazz Festival when the Cork City Hall Series returns to the city centre venue.

The line-up for this year’s event, from October 23 to 25, was unveiled this week, with performers from a mix of genres expected to broaden the horizons of the traditionally jazz-centric celebration.

The weekend will open with a double-bill performance from Galway band The Stunning and special guest Mundy.

This will be followed by a 50th anniversary performance from Bob Geldof and The Boomtown Rats, which organisers said “promises to be one of the standout performances of the entire Guinness Cork Jazz Festival weekend”.

The weekend will then close with performances from Rory Gallagher tribute band Moonchild, and Mackwood Fleet, a Fleetwood Mac tribute act.

Tickets for select performances are available online, with tickets for The Boomtown Rats available from Eventbrite.
