The Construction Industry Federation (CIF) Southern Construct Summit 2026 will take place today at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
The summit will bring together industry leaders, policymakers and key stakeholders, under the theme of the readiness of Cork to deliver on critical housing, infrastructure and investment projects such as Cork Luas.
The summit will focus on the challenges and opportunities facing the construction sector in Cork, including the need for sustainable development and addressing barriers to infrastructure delivery.
As one of the country’s most important construction gatherings, the summit is expected to draw a significant attendance from across the construction industry.
Speakers will include Sarah O’Donnell, project manager of Luas Cork with Transport Infrastructure Ireland; Simon Coveney, former Tánaiste and managing director with Waterfront Advisory; Moira Murrell, chief executive, Cork County Council, and Brian Geaney, assistant chief executive, Cork City Council.

There also will be representation at the summit from various stakeholders including Uisce Éireann, ESB, the National Transport Authority and the Southern Regional Assembly.
Joanne Treacy, CIF director, southern region, said there has been significant investment in construction in Cork in recent years, with key developments, including the Cork Docklands scheme, city centre regeneration, improvements to roads and infrastructures and major housing developments changing the face of the city and county
“The summit is bringing together leaders in our industry to discuss the realities facing the construction sector, how challenges can be overcome and to explore further opportunities to help Cork city and county grow to its full potential.
