Cork man accused of assault and criminal damage granted bail at High Court

On the application of Sergeant Gearóid Davis, Judge Catherine Ryan adjourned the case until June 24 to allow time for directions to be obtained from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A Midleton man who was refused bail at Cork District Court on charges including assault causing harm to a young woman working at a cafe in Cork city and assaulting two men on the same occasion has since been granted bail at the High Court.

Alan O’Leary, aged 24, of 49 Avoncore Place, Midleton, Co Cork, appeared at Cork District Court on Wednesday where DPP directions were awaited. 

On the application of Sergeant Gearóid Davis, Judge Catherine Ryan adjourned the case until June 24 to allow time for directions to be obtained from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The charges relate to an alleged incident at Bean & Leaf, Grand Parade, Cork, shortly after 6am on December 12, 2025.

Alan O’Leary is charged with assaulting a woman causing her harm, contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act. He faces similar charges in respect of two men. 

The fourth charge against him is one of causing criminal damage at the Bean & Leaf premises. That charge refers specifically to €700 worth of damage to sink plumbing at the property.
