Lennox Robinson play to be performed in author's former home in West Cork

Members of the public will be treated to a local staging of Lennox Robinson’s ‘Crabbed Youth and Age’ in the playwright's former home in West Cork this week.
The production, taking place in the Drawing Room of Ballymoney House in Ballineen, where Cork-born playwright and poet Robinson once lived, will see all funds raised via ticket sales donated to the West Cork Rapid Response group and the Irish Cancer Society.
tale follows the story of Mrs Swan, played by Gráinne Bagnall, a widow with three daughters, Minnie (Nicola Morry), Dolly (Rebecca McGill) and Eileen (Aisling O’Reilly), all of whom have become eligible for marriage.
Other roles are: Gerald Booth, played by Tadhg Moynihan; Charlie Duncan played by Jim Lawton, and Tommy Mims played by Sean O'Callaghan.
Audiences will see how the four characters navigate finding love among three suitors, with Mrs Swan becoming an unexpected hurdle in her daughter’s pursuit of finding husbands.
Directed by Lar McCarthy, two showings will take place across Thursday and Friday from 7.30pm, with doors closing at 7.15pm.
