Lord Mayor of Cork, Fergal Dennehy, has announced the date for the annual Lord Mayor’s Charity Ball, and the four charities who will benefit from this year’s gala event.

The ball, which will take place on Friday, June 12, at the Vienna Woods Hotel, will bring together members of the public, business community, and civic life for a night of celebration, generosity, and entertainment.

The four charities selected this year are Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, St Luke’s Home, Cork Life Centre, and Horizons.

Last year, a total of €22,000 was raised through the event, with Shine Centre for Autism, Alzheimer’s Association of Ireland, Cork Simon Community, and Deaf Enterprises each receiving a cheque for €5,500 at a presentation ceremony hosted by then lord mayor Dan Boyle.

Guests are encouraged to dress in classic black tie on the night, which will begin with a drinks reception, followed by a four-course dinner, a raffle, and a night of dancing and entertainment with the popular live band Route 66.

Mr Dennehy encouraged people to attend the event, saying: “The Lord Mayor’s Ball is a very special occasion in Cork’s civic calendar, and I am thrilled to invite people from across our city and beyond to join us on June 12

“This year’s chosen charities do extraordinary work, changing lives and strengthening our communities every day. My hope is that this will be a joyful night that not only brings people together, but also raises vital funds for these organisations.

“It promises to be a fantastic evening of great food, great music, and great company, all for a great cause.”

Tickets are expected to be in high demand, and early booking is strongly advised to avoid disappointment. Tickets can be purchased on the Cork City Council website for €130 per person, or a whole table can be booked.
