Emergency services received multiple calls about the fire at the Faizan E Madinah prayer hall and Islamic education centre at around 3.35pm.

More than 20 firefighters on four fire engines and a turntable ladder were dispatched to the scene.

They said smoke was reported coming from the building and a full evacuation of the premises took place, before the fire was extinguished.

ESB Networks also responded and traffic restrictions were put in place.

The man is currently detained at a Garda station in north Dublin city and investigations are ongoing.
