Independent councillor Kieran McCarthy is calling on schools, community, and voluntary groups in Douglas to apply for Cork City Council’s annual Circular Economy/Waste Prevention Grant Scheme funding of up to €1,500 per project.
This scheme aims to support Cork city groups to implement circular economy, waste prevention, reuse and repair activities in their local community and to encourage partnerships between local schools, social enterprises, charities, community, and voluntary groups.
Mr McCarthy noted: “This grant offers a circular economy/waste prevention grant up to a maximum of €1,500 to voluntary or community groups or schools for circular economy, waste prevention, reuse, repair, upcycling projects in their local community.
“The focus for projects should be to promote a circular economy e.g. swopping, reusing, repurposing, upcycling, sharing, repairing, developing repair skills, eliminating single use plastic, textile and food waste prevention.”
This grant is funded by the Emergency Management and Climate Action Directorate of Cork City Council as part of its Circular Economy/Waste Prevention Programme and its commitments under the National Waste Management Plan for a Circular Economy.
The closing date for applications is Monday, April 27, and the application form can be accessed on the city council’s website.
