Douglas Community School to hold a reunion for the Class of 1976

The 1976 Douglas Community School Leaving Cert year celebrating the 20th anniversary at the Rochestown Park Hotel.

Calling all in the 1976 Leaving Cert year in Douglas Community School.

A 50th class reunion will take place on Friday, May 8, at the Rochestown Park Hotel.

There’ll be a drinks reception starting at 7pm, followed by a buffet dinner at 8pm, some speeches and music afterwards.

Noel Lucy is the contact for further details and he is available at 087 2424974.

It will be the third reunion, the former classmates having their first meet-up to celebrate the 20th anniversary and the second five years later.

Back in the day the school was known as Colaiste Mhuire, under the guidance of the Presentation Brothers, whose grounds were on the site of the now Reeves Wood estate.

It became a state school in 1974, opening its doors under DCS for the first time on Monday, September 2.

Pat Barry is the current principal, only the fifth in all in the school’s history, following in the footsteps of Seán Phelan, Padraig Ó Riordain, Bernard Horgan and Jim Long.

It promises to be a great night with people travelling from far and wide to recall their time spent in DCS.

All are encouraged to come along on the night,
