The Kilfenora Céilí Band is coming to the Cork Opera House this month.

Founded in 1909 in the village of Kilfenora in Co Clare, it is one of the oldest céilí bands in Ireland.

Although going through a few changes in line-up over the years, the band has been at the heart of Irish traditional music over that time and earning a reputation as one of the outstanding sounds in Irish music.

The Kilfenora Céilí Band has in recent years performed at Glastonbury and at concerts in New York’s Lincoln Center, as well as touring across Ireland and Europe.

A spokesperson for Cork Opera House said audiences can expect a powerful and immersive experience on March 7.

They will be joined on stage on the night by singers Fiona Ryan and Ger O’Donnell, along with dancers who have previously performed with Riverdance.

Tickets for the upcoming concert on Leeside are on sale through the official Cork Opera House website at corkoperahouse.ie.
