Under the €111m capital investment plan for Cork, €5m has been allocated to the new ambulance hub, which has gone to tender.

Cork South Central TD and Minister of state Jerry Buttimer has welcomed €111m capital investment plan for healthcare facilities across Cork, which will help strengthening frontline services and future-proofing healthcare delivery in Cork.

As part of the wider investment programme, €5 million has been allocated for the development of a new ambulance base and headquarters to serve Cork city and county.

The facility, which has now gone to tender, will be located on the grounds of St Finbarr’s Hospital, Douglas Road, and will significantly enhance emergency response capacity across the city and county.

Minister Buttimer said the funding reflects the Government’s strong commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and ensuring patients receive timely, high-quality care close to home.

“This €111m investment marks a step forward for healthcare services in Cork.

“The new ambulance base at St Finbarr’s will strengthen emergency response times and provide modern, fit-for-purpose facilities for our dedicated paramedics and frontline teams.

“I am particularly pleased to see this project move to tender stage, bringing us closer to delivery.

“This investment demonstrates our continued commitment to supporting patients, staff, and communities across Cork City and County.”

The broader capital investment plan will support upgrades and developments across multiple healthcare facilities, helping to meet growing demand, modernise infrastructure, and improve patient outcomes.
