Cork County Council is proposing to introduce traffic calming measures for Cloughduv village.
The proposed works on the L2216, the main road passing through the mid Cork village, include footpaths/buildouts, a raised table, zebra controlled pedestrian crossing, uncontrolled pedestrian crossings, markings and sinage.
The measures aim to reduce vehicle speeds and improve road safety for all road users in Cloughduv. Details of the plans were discussed at the January Macroom municipal district council meeting.
Fine Gael county councilor Ted Lucey told The Echo that he feels traffic calming measures would be welcomed by residents living in Cloughduv.
“There is a pile of new houses being built there now at the moment. There is a lot of people after moving into the Cloughduv village. So traffic calming, it was very important to push for that, and we have it got now. I would think in the very near future that there will be works happening there.”
