Met Éireann issues yellow wind warning for Cork as Strom Chandra approaches 

Strom Chandra will bring very strong and gusty winds, particularly along coastal and exposed areas in Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Wexford, Dublin and Louth.

A status yellow wind warning will come into effect early on Tuesday morning, with Mét Eireann predicting extremely windy conditions for Cork and five other counties. 

The national forecaster said the yellow warning, issued ahead of the arrival of Storm Chandra to Irish shores will bring very strong and gusty winds, particularly along coastal and exposed areas across Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Wexford, Dublin and Louth.

The yellow advisory will come into effect at 5am tomorrow and remain in place until 11pm on Tuesday night. 

Mét Eireann warned possible impacts may include fallen tress and loose debris, wave overtopping and hazardous travel conditions. 

Residents across Cork are advised to take precautions including securing any loose objects, avoiding any unnecessary travel, and avoiding coastal areas while the yellow warning remains in place. 

Meanwhile, a yellow rainfall warning associated with Storm Chandra will be in place from midnight tonight until 11pm on Tuesday for counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Louth, Waterford, Wexford, and Wicklow. 

Bands of rain associated with the storm are expected to be heavy and persistent, falling on already saturated ground.

The forecaster warns of localised flooding, river flooding, and difficult travel conditions in affected counties.
