In 2025, Cork city council approved more than 750 homes for social housing supports, the council’s director of housing has said.

Sinn Féin councillor Michelle Gould had asked for data on how many social, affordable and cost rental properties did Cork City Council deliver and allocate in 2025, as well as how many new applications were accepted onto the social housing list during the year.

Alison O’Rourke of the council’s housing directorate said they are currently in the process of collating finalised completion data for submission to the government, and “it would be premature” to publish the figures before the government. This data is expected to be finalised in the coming weeks.

She also told Ms Gould that 766 households had been approved for social housing supports, excluding applicants qualified for HAP only, Mortgage to Rent, and private rightsizers.
