Almost €3.5m has been allocated to Cork ETB under the Green Devolved Capital Grant Fund for 2025.

The funding is part of a €39m package of devolved capital funding to be disbursed across the 16 Education and Training Boards (ETBs) unveiled by the Minister for Further and Higher Education, James Lawless and Minister of State for Further Education, Apprenticeship, Construction and Climate Skills, Marian Harkin

The Devolved Capital Grant provides ETBs with the flexibility to support a wide range of small-scale building works including ongoing and planned preventative maintenance, health and safety works, access, and refurbishment works, together with infrastructural improvement works and equipment upgrades including ICT.

Fine Gael’s Cork North Central TD, Colm Burke has welcomed the funding for Cork.

“ETBs provide an excellent service for those looking to further their education or upskill in their sectors,” said Mr Burke.

“We want to support ETBs in the delivery of their work, and many buildings are looking for essential upgrades that this funding will support.

“Across the country, €39 million has been allocated to ETBs for continued energy efficiency measures, ongoing capital investment and the provision of specialist equipment to support upskilling in construction and other sectors.

“Our ETBs provide a pathway of further education for all learners, and this funding will benefit students, staff and community users in Cork.

“This funding will give Cork ETB the resources to make real, impactful changes that will benefit not just their facilities but the entire community.”
