Cork community groups in running for Pride of Place awards

Five community groups in Cork city have been shortlisted for national recognition in the IPB Pride of Place Awards 2025.

Organised by Co-operation Ireland in partnership with IPB Insurance, the Pride of Place Awards are an all-island celebration of community-led development, recognising the achievements of local groups across both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

The awards honour those who demonstrate exceptional commitment to building inclusive, vibrant, and resilient communities. This year, Cork’s shortlisted groups reflect the diversity, creativity, and strength of local initiatives working to make a difference.

Céilí Cois Locha has been nominated in the Creative Communities category for its vibrant celebration of culture and connection through dance and music. During the summer, the group hosts a weekly outdoor traditional céilí at The Lough.

Sauti Studio Project has been recognised in the Creative Youth Initiative category for empowering young people through storytelling, media, and music. It was set up by the Cork Migrant Centre’s youth initiative against racism in Nano Nagle Place.

Clogheen Kerrypike Community Association has been shortlisted in the Urban Neighbourhood Under 3,000 category for its outstanding work in fostering local pride and environmental stewardship.

Cork Dragons has been nominated in the Community Wellbeing Initiative category for its support of cancer survivors through dragon boat racing and peer connection.

The Mexican community in Cork has been recognised in the Inclusive Communities category for its vibrant cultural contributions and commitment to inclusion and intercultural dialogue.

Lord Mayor of Cork Fergal Dennehy described the nominations as a powerful reflection of the spirit and strength of Cork’s communities.

The awards will take place on Friday at the Strand Hotel in Limerick.
