Web access and telephone connection restored to hundreds of northside residents
More than 150 homes and 500 residents were impacted last week due to a cable being cut during construction works undertaken by Siro and TLI.
Internet, TV and telephone connections to hundreds of residents across Cork city’s northside, who were left without for more than a week, have now been restored.
More than 150 homes and 500 residents were impacted by the disruption last week due to a cable being cut during construction works undertaken by Siro and TLI.
Sinn Féin councillor for the Cork city North West ward, Michelle Gould said the cables have now been repaired after nine days of interruption.
“I am glad the service has been restored because it has been a huge inconvenience for those affected,” said Ms Gould.
“People had no phone line, internet, tv, or broadband, which meant for some they couldn’t top up on prepay which left them without heating.
“Others affected were those who work from home, and college students.
“In some cases, it was a really long nine days for parents of young children who were on midterm, particularly children with additional needs with no access to tv or computers.
“There was a lot of frustration and anger with regards to the time it took to repair the damage and the complete lack of communication to residents,” she added.
“When there are major storms, outages occur, but for the most part they don’t take this long to be repaired.
“I have looked for a report on the matter on how it occurred and why it took so long to finally have it fixed.”
