LDA lodge permission for 147 new homes in Cork city
The LDA's Anglesea Terrace development will deliver 72 one-bed and 75 two-bed cost rental and social apartments.
The Land Development Agency has lodged planning permission for the development of 147 new homes in the heart of Cork city centre in partnership with Cork City Council.
The Anglesea Terrace development will deliver 72 one-bed and 75 two-bed cost rental and social apartments. The tenure mix will be 132 or 90% cost rental and 15 or 10% social homes.
The development height will vary from four to 16 storeys at its tallest point and will complement the nearby Elysian building. Located at the junction of Old Station Road and South Link Road, the site is within short walking distance of amenities, retail and public transport including Kent Station and Cork Bus Station.

Upon completion, residents will be able to enjoy a landscaped courtyard, and the ground floor will include 242m2 of commercial space that can be divided into two or three separate units. Subject to planning permission, construction could begin in 2027, with the first homes delivered in 2030.
John Coleman, LDA chief executive, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Cork City Council to deliver much needed affordable housing in the heart of Cork City.
“Anglesea Terrace is a fantastic site with great potential. Our vision is to turn this underutilised brownfield site into high quality affordable housing that can act as a catalyst for rejuvenation in the local community and create positive societal impact for Cork City.”
This is the latest step in the LDA’s ongoing progress in Cork. The Agency is set to deliver the first of 267 homes at the site of the former St. Kevin’s Hospital in Shanakiel early next year and has received planning for 345 homes at a former ESB site in Wilton in August 2025.
They are also active in the Cork Docklands, developing 302 apartments at Horgan’s Quay in partnership with HQ Developments Residential Company Ltd and a further 337 apartments in partnership with Glenveagh Properties at Marina Depot.

Valerie O’Sullivan, chief executive of Cork City Council said: “We are excited to see the Anglesea Terrace project move to a new phase in its development. This demonstrates the welcome and growing demand for city living in Cork, which, along with City revitalisation is a key objective of the Council.
“This project has the capacity to create a desirable, vibrant and well-connected neighbourhood for the people of Cork.”
