The Lady Mayoress of Cork, Karen Brennan, has launched her coffee morning, which will be held next Thursday in aid of Marymount University Hospital and Hospice.

Every year, the Lady Mayoress’s coffee morning raises much-needed funding for Marymount, support that helps it to continue delivering specialist palliative care across the city and county.

This year, Ms Brennan is hosting the event to coincide with the autumn mid-term break, and she said businesses and groups across the city are offering cakes, scones, coffee, and their time for this worthwhile event.

“As Lady Mayoress, I am deeply honoured to support Marymount Hospice,” she said.

“The care and comfort given here touch so many families in our community.

“Fundraising is essential to keep this wonderful work going, and every contribution truly makes a difference.

“Together, through generosity and kindness, we can ensure Marymount continues to be a place of dignity, compassion, and hope.”

Benefitted

Many people in Cork have benefitted from the work of Marymount Hospice, which has been providing palliative care as well as services for dependent older people for decades.

The hospice has a 44-bed site on Curraheen Rd, and it has teams providing home services and family support across Co Cork.

The Lady Mayoress’s Coffee Morning will be hosted in Millennium Hall on Eglinton St from 10am to 12.30pm on October 30.

Entry is free, with donations encouraged, and the event is open to the public, to community groups, and to anyone who loves cake and coffee.

Proceeds from sales go to Marymount University Hospital and Hospice.

For any businesses looking to come onboard to help, donations of cakes, scones, and pastries are still being accepted.

There will be a range of cakes and confectionary available on the morning, including gluten-free options from a number of well-known Cork bakeries.
