ADHD Ireland’s Cork branch has created a programme aimed at helping adults to meet deadlines and improve time management.

Action Hub is a six-week online programme made up of Zoom sessions with up to 10 participants per group.

The sessions are moderated by a host, but they are not coaching sessions. Each person is encouraged to offer their own advice and support to fellow participants.

Each session provides participants with the opportunity to state their long-term goals, break them down into manageable steps, and receive feedback from others in the group.

The small group size aims to ensure that each participant can engage meaningfully and receive valuable input from peers who share similar experiences.

It is expected that up to 400 people with ADHD from around the country will benefit from the programme, which will run for an initial period of eight months.

Martin Finn, service development manager for ADHD Ireland Cork, and Action Hub creator, said: “People with ADHD have huge energy, enthusiasm, and creative ideas, but too often it all goes to waste because they have no framework or structure to organise themselves.

“Action Hubs allow them to create a manageable timeframe and steps to achieving their goal with the support of a small group of peers.

“I have ADHD myself and I know that I would have really benefited from this programme in the past.”

Carolin Chucholowski is one person who has been participating in the Action Hub programme. “Having a group that truly understands the ADHD struggle and keeps each other gently accountable has helped me stay motivated, organised, keep track of time, and actually finish the things I started,” she said.

Another participant, James Morrissey Jr, said: “Before starting this course, I struggled with maintaining consistency in tasks, which affected my confidence.

“This course has introduced a framework which has allowed me to achieve several small tactical goals, which have compounded over time, so that I could achieve larger strategic goals.”
