Lord Mayor Fergal Dennehy has officially launched the 63rd Lord Mayor’s Gala Christmas Concert, which will take place on Saturday, December 6, at Cork City Hall.

At a festive launch of the annual charity event in Cork City Hall this week, the Lord Mayor announced that this year’s beneficiaries will be Samaritans Cork, the Alzheimer Society of Ireland, and Shine A Light, chosen by him in recognition of their vital work in the community.

With the theme of ‘A Very Cork Christmas’, this year’s gala concert promises an unforgettable evening which will showcase the very best of Cork talent.

Led by Yvonne Coughlan, the line-up will include Majella Cullagh, Lady Fi, Lottie O’Driscoll, Barry Tierney, and the Cork Concert Orchestra conducted by Brian Prendergast.

Also performing will be Montfort Youth Choir, Cór Cois Abhann, Joan Denise Moriarty School of Dance, and Kevin Goble and Signalman Araon Kearney of the Irish Defence Forces.

Audience favourite Elmarie Mawe will return as MC for the evening.

Speaking at the launch, Mr Dennehy said: “I’m thrilled to officially launch the Gala Christmas Concert, a cherished festive tradition in our city’s calendar.

“Now in its 63rd year, it’s more than a night of music and celebration, it’s a testament to the incredible generosity and community spirit of the people of Cork year after year.

“I am so looking forward to what promises to be a fantastic, memorable, and meaningful evening.”

Tickets for the Lord Mayor’s Gala Christmas Concert are on sale now and can be purchased through the Everyman website or in Pro Musica on Oliver Plunkett St.

With the gala concert selling out in recent years, tickets are expected to go fast, and audiences are encouraged to book early and not miss out.
