Participants in the Samhain Parade of Light make their way from Greywood Arts (Killeagh) into Glenbower Woods. A series of lantern-making workshops over midterm will culminate in the parade on All Hallows’ Eve on November 1.

Greywood Arts in Killeagh is holding lantern-making workshops for all ages over the upcoming midterm and Halloween week, which will then be used in the Samhain Parade of Light into Glenbower Woods on November 1.

A series of lantern-making workshops for all ages will take place at Greywood Arts on Monday, October 27, at 11am and 2pm.

There will also be a workshop for adults on Tuesday October 28 at 6.30pm.

Using natural willow and paper, lanterns of all shapes and sizes will be created.

The finished lanterns will then become part of a Samhain parade into Glenbower Woods on Saturday, November 1.

All are welcomed to participate and are asked to gather at 5pm on November 1 at Greywood Arts to collect lanterns and at 5.30pm they will progress to the wood with the new, handmade lanterns.

The Samhain parade will then be followed by sweet treats, hot chocolate, and mulled wine for a truly memorable All Hallows’ Eve at Greywood Arts on Main Street in Killeagh.

Jessica Bonenfant, creative director at Greywood Arts, said that all are invited to join in “this dazzling display of light as we process together into Glenbower Wood after dark, honouring our Celtic traditions and marking the beginning of the winter season.

“Both young and old will be enchanted by this magical celebration.”

Further information can be found at greywoodarts.org , while booking can be made online at Greywood Arts Eventbrite.

People are asked to note that the workshops will be held on the first floor of the new Coach House Creative Hub, which is accessible by stairs. Contact Greywood Arts via email hello@greywoodarts.org with any additional accessibility needs.

The initiative is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and Cork County Council.
