Cork County Council’s Library and Arts Service is inviting applications for the position of ‘Rainbow Library’ facilitator.

The Rainbow Library is a creative-writing and illustration initiative that celebrates the voices of LGBTQIA+ people aged 14 to 23.

The position is an opportunity to support LGBTQIA+ writers and artists through workshops, mentorship, and publication opportunities. The project provides a safe, inclusive space for participants to explore identity, storytelling, and self-expression.

The initiative is a key element of Cork County Council’s creative engagement with young people across the region.

Participants work alongside professional writers and illustrators to develop stories and artwork that reflect the diversity of Ireland.

The group has published anthologies showcasing the creativity of Cork’s young LGBTQIA+ community and participated in the West Cork Literary Festival, Dublin Literature Festival, and Cork Zine Fest.

Applicants should be experienced writers with a strong portfolio of work, including published or self-published pieces; have a passion for engaging with young people through creative projects; and exhibit confidence, empathy, and a commitment to LGBTQIA+ inclusion.
