Cork man accused of taking part in robbery of couple served with book of evidence

High quality CCTV was harvested in the course of the investigation and Dean Madden was allegedly identified as the man who was involved in the crime.
A book of evidence was served on a man accused of taking part in a robbery where a couple were returning home from socialising in Cork city and were allegedly set upon at Shandon Street on January 7.
Dean Madden of Lagan Grove, Mayfield, Cork, and more recently with an address at Dominic Street in Cork, was served with a book of evidence, Sergeant John Dineen confirmed.
On the sergeant’s application, Judge John King sent the case forward from Cork District Court to the sessions of Cork Circuit Criminal Court commencing on October 28.
Detective Garda Elaine Murphy previously outlined the allegations in the case.
It was alleged that at around midnight on January 7 a man and a woman were walking down Shandon Street, Cork, when they were accosted by a man and two women.

Det Garda Murphy said the CCTV showed the man punching the injured man a number of times in the head and later going through a handbag that was taken during the incident.
The detective said it was all captured on CCTV.

Dean Madden is charged with robbery and attempted robbery arising out of the matter.
