Signed guilty pleas were entered today by a man and a woman on charges related to their parts in brothel keeping at Watercourse Road in Cork in 2021.

Sergeant John Dineen confirmed at Cork District Court that the two accused had signed guilty pleas. They were both represented by solicitor Shane Collins-Daly. 

Free legal aid was granted for the representation of both accused after Judge Dorgan was told that they were dependent on social welfare payments.

On the application of Sgt Dineen, Judge Mary Dorgan sent the cases forward for sentencing at the sessions of Cork Circuit Criminal Court commencing on October 28.

39-year-old Tiberius Bot of Ross Park, Killavullen, County Cork, is charged with brothel keeping contrary to the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act.

The single charge against him states that on November 11 2021 at 1 Bleasby Street Mews, Bleasby Street, Watercourse Road, Cork, he did keep or manage or act or assist in the management of a brothel. He has now admitted that count.

40-year-old Alina Maria Straton, also of Ross Park, Killavullen, admits the same offence.

In addition, she admitted another charge related to the following day, November 12 2021 at her home in Kilavullen of having a cannister of pepper spray in her possession, contrary to the Firearms Act.
