The incident occurred on Skehard Road between the junctions of Silverdale Drive and Parkhill, travelling in the direction of Mahon, between 3.30pm and 3.45pm.

A garda spokesperson said the driver, a male in his 20s, was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries, which they said were believed to be "serious but not life-threatening" at this time.

A technical examination of the scene was conducted, and gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to get in contact with them.
