The sentence will run concurrently with a sentence that is already being being served.

Having cocaine at Copperalley Bridge in Glanmire resulted in a three-month prison sentence being imposed on a 41-year-old man.

Judge Mary Dorgan imposed that sentence on Alan O’Callaghan of 36 Oakfield Avenue, Glanmire, at Cork District Court.

He pleaded guilty to the charge of having cocaine for his own use on May 24, 2024, at Copperalley Bridge, Brooklodge, Glanmire.

Eddie Burke solicitor said the defendant, who appeared in court by video link from prison was serving a longer sentence from Cork Circuit Criminal Court and is not due to be released until August 2026.

“This is a man who had a lot of difficulties with alcohol when young.

“He stayed out of trouble for eight or nine years but he turned to drugs and could not cope with drug addiction,” Mr Burke said.

Judge Dorgan imposed the sentence of three months in prison which would run concurrently with the sentence that is already being being served.
