Two people before Cork court over drug dealing charges

The cases against the defendants were both adjourned by Judge John King until December 8.
A woman was arrested in Douglas on Sunday afternoon and charged with dealing heroin and cocaine in the area.
A man from Dublin was also arrested as part of the investigation and charged with dealing heroin and cannabis.
Both defendants were brought before Cork District Court. Detective Garda Linda O’Keeffe testified yesterday that she arrested Letisha Murphy, of 19 Castletreasure Grove, Douglas, Cork, on Sunday and charged her with various counts under the Misuse of Drugs Act, to which she made no reply.
Sergeant John Kelleher said there was no objection to bail with conditions including that she would sign on at Anglesea Street Garda Station on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week.
Solicitor Eddie Burke was appointed on free legal aid to represent her.
The most serious charges against Ms Murphy relate to drug dealing. One count states that on September 21, at an address at Lios Na Gréine, South Douglas Rd, Cork, she had cocaine for the purpose of selling or otherwise supplying to another, under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
A second count relates to the same date and place and alleges the sale or supply of diamorphine (heroin).
Another man was arrested by Garda James Byrd on similar charges. Levi Ward, aged 21, from Dublin and of no fixed address, was charged with having cannabis for sale or supply at the same address at Lios Na Gréine on September 21, and heroin in similar circumstances.
Again, there was no garda objection to bail, but he was required to stay out of Cork city and county, except for legal appointments, provide a Dublin address to gardaí within 48 hours, sign once a week at Store Street Garda Station, and provide gardaí with a phone number.
Certificates will have to prepared on the drugs by Forensic Science Ireland and the cases against Ms Murphy and Mr Ward were both adjourned by Judge John King until December 8 to allow time for that.
