While we have yet to see the back of September, early bird tickets have already gone on sale for an immersive Christmas experience in Cork city.

Cork’s Marina Market is set to host ‘Santa’s Magical Market — The Big Freeze’ this winter, with tickets on sale at a 10% discount this month.

The experience, which will run from November 22 to December 23, will see the market on the Centre Park Rd transformed into a snow-dusted Scandinavian-inspired winter wonderland, complete with icy forests, twinkling lights, and festive family magic.

Interactive features

This year’s theme introduces a host of new interactive features, including a frozen forest and ice cave, offset by a light show; a snowy valley, which will be home to an animatronic polar bear, and a whimsical snow village, serving up seasonal sweet treats.

Children attending the event can post letters at the North Pole Outpost, while snow machines create a magical flurry overhead.

The undoubted highlight will be a visit to Santa in his cosy log cabin, where families can capture the moment with professional photos, snow globes, keyrings, and keepsake prints.

The experience will be fully accessible and dog-friendly, and will include designated sensory-friendly hours as part of an ongoing commitment to inclusivity and a continued partnership with Enable Ireland.

Magic

David O’Driscoll, manager at TS Events, the company behind the venture, said they are “proud to be bringing something new” to the Marina this year.

“Santa’s Magical Market — The Big Freeze will bring all the magic of a snowy winter wonderland — but it’s the joy, the laughs, and the memories made together that make it truly special,” said Mr O’Driscoll.

Whether it’s a baby’s first Christmas, a multi-generational family day out, or a magical festive visit with four-legged friends, the team behind the extravaganza have pledged it promises to be “one of Cork’s most unforgettable holiday experiences”.
