A list referring to cases where Revenue has accepted a settlement offer instead of initiating court proceedings, or a settlement has been paid in full, was released this week.

Four Cork tax defaulters were found to owe a combined total of more than half a million euro, due to not declaring or under-declaring income tax or Vat, Revenue’s latest tax defaulters list has revealed.

In total, €530,510 was found to be owed, with the four defaulters, who worked in roles including medical practitioners and company directors, having to pay €961,458 in settlements, including the amount unpaid, interest, and penalties.

A list referring to cases where Revenue has accepted a settlement offer instead of initiating court proceedings, or a settlement has been paid in full, was released this week.

The list reflects the amount of a settlement that remained unpaid at the end of the period to June 30, 2025. Unpaid amounts are subject to Revenue’s normal debt collection and enforcement procedures.

Gerard O’Herlihy, listed as a PAYE employee from 28 Owenabue Drive, Ballea Rd, Carrigaline, had €117,992 unpaid tax due to non-declaration of Vat, and was due to pay a €314,235 settlement to Revenue, including €107,749 in interest and €88,494 in penalties. He had €255,634 unpaid as of June 30.

Ian Nagle, a company director from Mistleigh, Douglas Rd, was found to owe €122,042 in tax after an audit due to underdeclaring income tax. With €27,986 in interest and €36,612 in penalties added, he paid a settlement of €186,640 to the tax body.

Medical practitioner Michael Shannon of Kairos, Strawberry Lane, Castletreasure, Douglas, was found to owe €129,787 due to under declaration of income tax, and paid a settlement of €215,196, including €46,474 in interest and €38,935 in penalties.

Company director William A Stack, of Lindville House, Blackrock Rd, was found to owe €160,689, also due to underdeclaration of income tax, which he paid, plus €36,493 interest and €48,205 penalties, for a total settlement of €245,387.
