Uisce Éireann has called on consumers in Cork to sign up for its free text alert service as an unprecedented programme of water infrastructure upgrades are currently underway.

A planned capital investment of more than €10bn, to be implemented over the next five years, in areas such as leakage reductions, repairs to bursts and outages, and treatment plant upgrades, will see hundreds of live projects completed across the country.

These completions will lead to major improvements in water quality, security, and resilience; however, a spokesperson for Uisce Éireann has said that short-term disruptions are “inevitable as a result, and staying informed is essential”.

By signing up to the free text service, customers can receive real-time updates tailored to their area, helping them to prepare for any interruptions.

The service, which has more than 250,000 people signed up, provides alerts on water outages, boil water notices, and other supply interruptions expected to last longer than four hours.

Whether planned or unplanned, the alerts are delivered directly to your phone.

“Our text alert system allows us to communicate directly with thousands of customers, helping them understand the scale of the work and the potential impacts.

“I strongly encourage everyone to sign up and stay connected with us as we continue this unprecedented programme of upgrades.
