Man killed in collision on the main Cork to Limerick road

A man in his 40s was pronounced deceased at the scene, and a woman in her 30s was hospitalised with injuries a garda spokesperson said are believed to be serious.

A garda spokesperson said the road remains closed to facilitate a technical examination by garda forensic collision investigators, and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision on the Cork to Limerick road this morning. 

The collision involving two cars occurred just before 7.30am in Croom, Limerick.

A man in his 40s was pronounced deceased at the scene, and a woman in her 30s was hospitalised with injuries a garda spokesperson said are believed to be serious.

 “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the N20 at Ballyouragan, Croom, Co. Limerick this morning, Thursday 14th August 2025," the spokesperson told The Echo. 

“The collision occurred at approximately 7.25am and involved two cars. A man, aged in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A woman, aged in her 30s, has been taken to hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be serious. No other injuries were reported.” 

The spokesperson said the road remains closed to facilitate a technical examination by garda forensic collision investigators, and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them, asking any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area between 7.00am and 7.30am this morning to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
