Ian Maguire a doubt for St Finbarr's championship opener

St Finbarr’s talisman Ian Maguire is a doubt for his side’s McCarthy Insurance Group Premier SFC opener against Carrigaline.
The game takes place on Friday in Ballinhassig with throw-in at 7pm.
The Barrs are the holders after winning the county last year for the first time since 2021.
It’s understood that a foot problem is bothering Maguire and could sideline him for a few weeks. If that proves to be the case, it would be a blow for the Togher outfit in their pursuit of Andy Scannell glory once again.
While the reigning county champions boast an incredibly deep squad with seasoned leaders like Alan O’Connor and lethal forward Steven Sherlock, replacing an elite inter-county midfielder is far from ideal.
Maguire had a solid season in the middle of the park for the Cork footballers this year, a campaign in which he also captained the side.
After Friday, St Finbarr’s have a city derby against Douglas, followed by a clash with Mallow in the final group game.
