Man injured after armed group break into Cork city home overnight

One of the occupants of the property was taken to the CUH for treatment to what are understood to be non-life threatening injuries.
Gardaí in Cork city have arrested a man following an aggravated burglary that occurred at a residential property in the Lagan Grove area of Mayfield this morning at around 12.40am.
A garda spokesperson said three men entered the residence "armed with implements", and confronted the occupants before fleeing.
"Gardaí on patrol in the area responded to the incident," said the spokespesron.
"A male, aged in his 30s, was arrested at the scene and detained pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a garda Station in the Co Cork area," they added.
One of the occupants of the property, a man also aged in his 30s, was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries, which the garda spokesperson said were "believed to be non-life-threatening at this time."
A technical examination of the scene has been conducted by gardaí, who are appealing for anyone with any information regarding this incident to come forward.
"Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were in the Lagan Grove area of Mayfield, Cork City, between midnight on Sunday, 10th August 2025, and 1am on Monday, 11th August 2025, are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí," said the spokesperson.
